雨林木风，大家对这个名字一定不会陌生，也许你的操作系统正是“雨林木风工作室”版，2008年年底雨林木风工作室正式宣布解散，原因自然是他们对未开源操作系统进行的“非法研究”。雨林木风工作室是解散了，然而广东雨林木风计算机科技有限公司却没有由此而倒闭，雨林木风在其他领域还在继续发展。

2009年11月19日上午，谷歌在公司总部举办一次与Chrome OS相关的会议，披露部分技术资料，展示部分功能。Google Chrome OS是一款基于Linux的开源操作系统。Google在自己的官方博客表示，初期，这一操作系统将定位于上网本、紧凑型以及低成本电脑。Chrome OS完整版可能在明年发布。
